Yasu has been on at me for some time to empty out the drawers in the computer desk because two out of three were overflowing with my junk. He gave me my own drawer in the filing cabinet for all my stuff and left me to do it.
Well…that was about 4 months ago and still junk piling up and being added to in the drawer. I’m the least neatest person on the planet. I was born messy and fighting messy is a daily chore. Some days I just let it overcome me and go along with the mess. I don’t mind it if it doesn’t mind me.
Yasu however, likes everything organized into files, with little tabs. So neat and easy to follow. I did put my stuff, the overflow, into my draw of the filing cabinet, but not in a file. I sort of just dumped it in a pile and left it in the drawer. Yasu got a good surprise yesterday when he opened my draw and found my filing system.
He’s so patient. He explained to me that it is not the usual way of filing and that I would have much more room for stuff if I did it his way.
So today I have finally tackled the mighty junk draws in the computer table. Boy oh boy, where did I get so much JUNK? Truly junk. Papers, pens, notepads, memo pads, letters, envelopes, bills, stamps, random pieces of leftover wrapping paper and ribbons, purses, wallets, cd’s, games, store cards, bills, old phones. You name it, I’ve got it. I guess I was hoping that one day I would be able to use all that stuff…you know, someone might just say “hey kelly, I need some wrapping paper and ribbon” or “hey kelly, do you have a 25 cent stamp I can have?” But no…I didn’t even know it was there because it was covered by 2 years of paper.
Anyway, I’ve finally de-cluttered the filing cabinet. Put my files in the right way, and it’s all looking neat and tidy.
And the reward for my doing this? I found a shiny 100 yen coin in the bottom of the drawer after I had disposed of all the junk. And it’s a Tokyo olympic games one no less! :) If only that happened when I did the vacuuming or the laundry! :)

Showa 39! Yes, I thought it was 89 too at first glance, but Showa only had 64 years (and the last one was, by coincidence, 1989). Great collector’s item.
