2008 – A Year In Review

I picked this up from Gaijin Wife’s blog who got it from someone else. I thought it was interesting, and whoever reads this and wants to do it on their blog, feel free. I’d be interested if you would let me know so i can read yours!

1.   What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Get a reading from a psychic

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make any new years’ resolutions last year and I’ve already accomplished this years resolution of growing my nails! It only took me 30 years to stop biting them…

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, at least five people I know gave birth. I’m happy for them but sad for me.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?
Um, only Rottnest! At least it’s overseas! Or so us sandgropers say.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Clothes tags that say size 16, 14, or 12.

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 11th  - When I had emergency surgery for an infected gall bladder.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Learning new skills and making lots of new friends doing so

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not having a baby.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes, I had ongoing issues because of the surgery in January, and then found out I have a stomach tumour which will get operated on this year.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My ipod touch, but Yasu bought that not me!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All the nice people in blogland like Helen, Orchid, Melanie G-A, Melanie H, Nagaijin, Dylan, and so many others who’s names I can’t remember at 1:42am!! You know who you are.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Japanese House Guest from Hell’s. Ugh. Don’t make me remember.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Into books and workshops

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going away with Yasu for our anniversary in April

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Sexy Bucho’s song

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder

I’m definitely more content and happy with my life and I feel more knowledgeable about life.

ii. thinner or fatter?
I’m actually 3kgs thinner, not much, but it’s a start!

iii. richer or poorer?
I’m richer, having learnt the value of a dollar, and how to save.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Vegging around the house

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent already – with a friend and her family

Yes, I felt like I fell deeper in love with Yasu.

A baby

I was 30 and I went away to Busselton because it was also our 5th wedding anniversary.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having great health

¾ Jeans with funky t-shirts

34. What kept you sane?
Yasu. He’s my grounding.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Sexy Bucho. That bum wiggle does it for me!

Japanese Whaling in Australian waters

37. Who did you miss?
My Japanese in-laws

38. Who was the best new person you met?
My reiki teacher

Don’t judge others by outside appearances, judge them by their actions

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“Sen no kaze ni natte, nakanaide kudasai” It doesn’t really sum up my year, but it’s a song I listened to often and contemplated.
